You will need (for 4 persons):

  • 12 drumsticks (skinned if you prefer, I do)
  • 125 ml ketchup
  • 125 ml honey
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 100 ml soysauce
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 red pepper, deseeded and chopped finely
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons of orange juice
  • bouillon powder or salt to taste
  • sesame seeds, if you like

Preheat the oven to 170 degrees hot air.
    Peel and grate the garlic.
Grate the orange zest and press the juice.
Mix in a frying pan the garlic, star anise, ketchup, honey, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, orange zest and juice and the red pepper and mix together.
Heat the mixture and boil down for about one-third. Bring to taste.
Put the drumsticks in a baking dish. Pour the sauce over it.
Place the dish in the oven and bake the drumsticks for approximately 45-60 minutes. If you have the time, you can turn them around occasionally so that the marinade is covering every bit.
Optionally sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
    Both hot and cold delicious.
